Walking foot problems

Actually, that was what I was getting to, the lift arm on the walking foot. Depending on the style, if it's an arm, you need to make sure it either sits on top of the needle screw or if it's a prong like the picture above, make sure it straddles the needle screw.

I followed the directions in the machine manual when I attached the walking foot so I think I had it on correctly..I had the lift arm over the screw...I really think that it has something to do with the thickness of the quilt...cause I tried using the walking foot on two thin pieces of fabric that had no batting between them, and it worked fine...Plus I have been practicing free motion quilting with my spring action quilting foot and I have the same problem with those stitches...so I really think it must have something to do with the quilt thickness...I'm not sure what to do about it though..I tried adjusting my tension but that didn't really help too much...

Have you tried increasing or reducing the pressure on your pressure foot? There should be a dial on top of your mahcine near the front of the head. Turn it up or down and see what happens.

I think I figured out part of the problem! I was using a polyester thread but I had a spool of machine quilting thread that I picked up a few weeks ago so I decided to use that (it's cotton) and it is working a lot better..it still isn't perfect but it is better...Yay:).........@Dennis I'm not sure if my machine has adjustable presser foot pressure... that is one of the things that I was gonna try to adjust the other day after I started having the problems with it but I can't find where it is on my machine...On the Brother website in the machine specifications it says that it does have adjustable pressure but I can't find where to adjust it...and from what I have seen, the manual doesn't say anything about it...so I don't know..thanks for all ya'lls help though :)

@AlohaSandy...I bought my machine at Walmart...I also purchased a two year service plan.. just in case something is wrong with it, they will replace it...

Are you still having problems with the machine if so take it back and get another one it is to new to thaving these issues IMO

I use my walking foot with thick and thin fabrics but also could be the thread I use quilting machine thread only and also buy my thread from a quilt store only to make sure it is good quality, fyi.

I can't adjust my pressure foot are you sure you have an adjustment call Brother 800 number they will walk you thru where it is.

I live in the eastern part of NC.....About 30 to 45 minutes from the Fayettville/Fort Bragg area...

I have brother machines and my embroidery/sewing machine does not have a pressure foot adjustment. The quilting machine does have the pressure foot adjustment. Both of my machines have the walking foot with the 2-prong arm so I have to make sure the screw is between the prongs.
