Stitch in the ditch. That means where your seams are put together. If you are planning on quilting it yourself, you will most likely need a walking foot, depending on the thickness of your batting. Have you considered hand quilting it, or putting it together and having some one else quilt it for you?

I think my machine came with one (back in the dark ages :) )but I've never used it. I do all my work with the regular foot and have never had a problem.
