IMPUT on background color please
ok so i made the Dresden plate block out of leftover scraps from various past projects. I can't decide weather to use the blue (it is ROYAL BLUE may not show up that way but it is.) or the cream as a background to put it on. I have 15 of these blocks. I tried a pink same as the center but it was toooo much pink. Or if a different color would be better tell me that too. I think the blue is a little much but the cream i lose some of the prints. your opinion is needed. thanks for your time. kellie

Re: IMPUT on background color please
I like the cream as well. I would say that if you wanted color I would try a really soft one like a light to mint green to pull bits from the leaves. Otherwise I would go with the cream. That is on my bucket list to do!! looks awesome!
Re: IMPUT on background color please
i like the cream!!!! if you want a different color maybe a pale green?
Re: IMPUT on background color please
The only thing I can come up with is a soft green. : )
Re: IMPUT on background color please
I agree that the blue is too harsh. I prefer the cream.
Re: IMPUT on background color please
thanks ladies I had never thought of green as it is not really the main color in any of my prints. Blue is out for sure.
Re: IMPUT on background color please
Have to agree with the other ladies. I like the cream, but a pale mint or very light sage would look good as well.

Re: IMPUT on background color please
I like both of them, the blue really makes the yellow stand out, and the cream makes it look nice and girly.

Re: IMPUT on background color please
If those are your only choices, I'd go with the cream. Personally, I'd use white, a small pale pink & cream (or white) print or pale green & cream (or white) print. That way your cream blades won't fade into the background.
Re: IMPUT on background color please
I'm for the blue, personally. But I also think you need to re photograph it, with the flash on so we can get a better visual?? Because the blue one has a very different look for a block that I think should look the same as the bottom block??
Opinions may change if the photo was diff!!! :)
Re: IMPUT on background color please
I love the blue, but if you are wanting a contrast that blends a little better, try using one of the dark reds that are in the dresden.

Me too. A soft green is kind of neutral and would pull out the bits of green in the other fabrics.
Re: IMPUT on background color please
Go dark for impact - lighter makes it bland

Re: IMPUT on background color please
I like the blue, but I am always partial to strong colors. However, when I made a Dresden, I used a white background and a blue trim.
Re: IMPUT on background color please
UPDATE: After going to fabric stores I have decided that it wasn't the background that i was having trouble with it was the center circle. I took it off and put a lighter color of pale pink and that helped. While at the store i put it up to many colors by laying it on the bolts of fabric and the best to show off the block is down to three, like pink like the center, HOT pink and ..... RED. Talk about some pop. I did put up to several different shades of green and thought it made it look cheap. That is not to say anything personal that is just what I thought at the time. Thanks for everyones imput. keep it coming. kellie
