I did one and made a pattern in each block. (it's the yellow and blue quilt in my album) It turned out okay, but it was a pain. Next time I will do an allover pattern. This is one of the great patterns that really lends itself to that.

Thank you all for your suggestions and pictures! Your quilts are beautiful! I may practice some FMQ on a sample piece and see how that goes. If I can do it then I will (I'm not sure if my little old machine can handle it though - the foot pedal gets very hot when I sew for a long period of time).
I'll post pictures when I'm done!
Rebecca's-sewing, how did you get your embroidery machine to do that beautiful design for quilting? I have a Bernina embroidery machine, butmI don't know how to do quilting with it.
I am new to FMQ'ing to but have learned...if you want it soft and cuddly, don't stipple. Meander. Meaning, make the all-over FMQ'ing stitches at least 1/2-3/4 inch apart. THat way is called meandering. The close the stitches is called Stippling. Stippling, in my opinion and experience, makes the quilt stiff and not even as warm. I have done two with the stippling and they are stiff and it is hard to even wrap the quilt around my legs while watching TV. And it isn't that warm as it doesn't wrap around caz it is so stiff. I just finished a twin for my GD and meandered and even left a few small block areas with no stitching and it is the perfect "cuddlie-ness"
I agree with Rebecca, the allover loop-di-loop quilt design softens and enhances the D9P. With all the rectangles and different squares, I think that pattern needs something curvy rather than more straight lines. It's a quilt-by-quilt judgment, because there are very some very graphic quilts that I think need straight line quilting.
