Re: Missouri Star Pattern
Jean, Paper piecing is one of my favorite ways to quilt. Here's a place where you can print out more patterns (you will need a pattern for each block) http://quilterscache.com/M/MissouriStarBlock.html
I can't see this being done with Princess fabric though . . .

Re: Missouri Star Pattern
I haven't made that yet. But I think I would like to make a wall-hanging using the Missouri Star.
Re: Missouri Star Pattern
It's a really pretty star. I'm thinkin' tablerunner!

Re: Missouri Star Pattern
You wouldn't have to paper piece that star. All it is is flying geese, square in a square and corner square triangles. If you watch Jenny's new video (the civil war quilt) she explains how to make each of these segments. It's totally do-able with regular piecing.
Re: Missouri Star Pattern
Hey, just found a website that explains how to piece that block. You have to scroll down to the middle of the page for instructions. (although I don't think I'd do the triangles how they explained them...to much stretchy bias edge for my liking...but you certainly could do them like that...with spray starch to keep your pieces from stretching.)

Gayle thanks for the link to the block done that way, I know I can do this. The history lesson was very interesting, also!
Re: Missouri Star Pattern
That is one of the blocks in the BOM groups. Gayle, I saved that website.
Re: Missouri Star Pattern
I'm actually (slowly) making that civil war quilt for my DH. It's a challenge, but I'm hoping it's within my ability. If not....there's plenty of help!

It wouldn't work for the BOM because it's an 8 inch finished block instead of a 12". If you can figure out the conversions on each piece it would work okay.
