    Default Sewing Machine

Well, I guess it's my turn to ask about sewing machines. I had to go to the sewing center today and on my way out I stopped to glance at the sewing machines. What's your opinion on the Janome 6600. It doesn't look as sleek as the others And I would just have a decoration stitch (which I have now, but I could use lettering to make labels. Or would it be better to get a few more bells and whistles since I'm going to the experience of upgrading?? I'm kinda' leaning for the latter.

I think you should buy the most versatile (acronym for expensive!) machine you can afford. I believe an upgrade should be as large an upgrade as possible, especially if you intend to be quilting/sewing forever. I don't think you can go wrong with a Janome....I have their Memory Craft 4000 and it's been a workhorse for 20 years without ever needing a repair!! I keep it really clean and clear of fuzz/lint and change the needle often. A new machine can be a major investment and you should shop around and actually try out machines before you make a decision.

I have the 6600 and I LOVE it!!!! I sew everyday and it runs like a charm. I had the 6500 before I upgraded. I would buy it all over again and I think its a pretty looking machine too!

I had one, loved it, traded it for my long arm just yesterday. Never had a moment's trouble with it. But I had bought a Janome Horizon, which was an upgrade from the 6600. No, it doesn't look like a race car(candy apple red!), it looks like an SUV. But it is an incredibly serviceable machine. I only traded it because having as many machines as I had was ridiculous. Too bad I couldn't sell it to you!

I have the 6600 and LOVE it! The accufeed foot is awesome for quilting! Love the fancy stitches. Quiet. Durable. Great motors. I miss the open arm for patching knees......but that just means I don't do this as often now! I would rather sew from scratch any day! I LOVE this machine. Good luck!

I've never had the 6600 but I've heard great things about it. Theres a yahoo group for 6500/6600/7700 Janome machines, maybe they could help you decide.
    TODAY IS A GOOD DAY...TO HAVE A GOOD DAY...Genny
