    Default THREAD ISSUES

What do you wonderful quilters recommend for what thread to use on your quilts? Sometimes my thread breaks and I know it is not the tension and am using quilting thread but I am wondering maybe it is the kind I am buying. Mahalo

I use the 100% Egyptian cotton from Connecting Threads. Each spool has 1200 yard of 50 weight thread and comes is every color imagineable. It goes on sale often, but the regular price is approx $2.50 per spool. CT gives good service and has a cool catalogue and website (Connectingthreads.com)

Connecting Threads offers free shipping if you spend $50.00, which is fairly easy to do. I also use their thread and really like it.

It depends on my project. I use either Aurifil 40 wt. cotton mako thread, or Sulky rayon 40 wt. thread. I've also used 28 wt. Aurifil thread when I want some real definition to my stitches.

Aurifil is really strong thread! I love it.

I love Aurifil also. Very little lint which is a huge plus for me.

I use Connecting Thread's Egyptian's thread as well and also buy some of their fabric when it's on sale. Also look for their kits at 50 and 60% off when it includes the backing fabric - they're at a really good price then.
