This might be more than you want to know at the moment, but I have learned a lot from this website: http://www.superiorthreads.com/education/ about thread and the explanation of how needles work was a life saver. Solved a few problems for me. I am really pleased with the thread from Connecting threads and if you wait for the sales, it's a good price. I had lots of lint from C and C from Walmart when FMQ, but for piecing, it seemed to be just fine.

Maybe someone else mentioned it earlier and I missed it, but do not use cotton hand quilting thread in your machine. I was told it has a coating on it to ease it thru fabric and that same coating tends to gum up your machine.

Hi! I'm a newbie too so soaking up all the info I can... When piecing, i use only cotton thread on cotton fabrics. I bought a large cone of thread in dark beige which seems to work with everything. For the actual quilting, and depending on the design of course, you can go all out and use other types, eg rayon which gives a nice effect. A machine repairman warned me that too much use of polyester thread creates excessive lint around the bobbin case and causes other problems. Just a thought! We're all learning tog!

I have just started using thread from connectingthreads.com and I love it. I have used it in both my machines with no problem. I got the 50wt Egyptian cotton for 2.49 per spool.
