QUILTING HOOP

Can anyone recommend where I can get a good quilting hoop. I don't want the one with the stand just one I can put on my lap. Tks for your help in advanced. And can you recommend what kind is a good one so I don't get one that is bad and won't hold up.

I think Ben Franklins has them in a couple of sizes.

I'm sure there are other stores that carry this type of lap frame, but this is the type I really like. I have it in two different sizes. I also have a large, oval frame that used to have a stand, which I never used, but used the frame in my lap. I much prefer the PVC type. They are easier to move around on your quilt and you don't have to worry about splinters.

The best hoop I ever found was called a Buhoogee Quilting Hoop. It's about 17" in diameter, although it also comes in a rectangular size, and there is a groove around the outside and a bungee cord fits into the groove. The cord is adjustable with a cleat. I was just at JoAnn's last night and caught the tail end of "all quilting notions 50% off", however, the wooden quilting hoops regular price are still in the area of $5-10 each. I use them for heavy basting of small areas but then I just quilt without a hoop or frame.
