Re: Help me find a pattern
Hi
How about something like this
http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof...ooth_patch.htm
And use the fairies block for the center.

Re: Help me find a pattern
I'm going to try this again.......
Square in a Square would work with a fussy cut.
Here's an example of how it's done....http://sleepyowlstudio.wordpress.com...lock-tutorial/

Re: Help me find a pattern
I just made this pattern: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2011/10/...ice-quilt.html - I liked it because it "featured" all the fabrics in a 5" block. Good luck finding the right pattern and the right job!

Try this site...more patterns than you could ever dream of.

Re: Help me find a pattern
O my gosh, I looked at all those blocks and it made my head swirl. I've been trying to pick something to do and now I have that many more choices.........Maybe I should just close my eyes and point!
Re: Help me find a pattern
Thank you all! I knew I could count on you. I think I'm going to try the square in square with some scrap/stash fabric because I think that would work best with the amount of fabric that I have but will keep the others in mind for the future
You guys are the best! I don't think I would be quilting if it wasn't for Jenny and the wonderful people on this forum.

The 1st is a verson of the saw tooth star. The 2nd is churn dash.

By turning the purple triangles in the 1st version that Angela posted, you would get an easier-to-piece version of square in a square such as Slokarma posted further up in this post.
Re: Help me find a pattern
I really like the churn and dash and will probably try it on my next quilt. I haven't had too much luck with the pinwheels but I'll keep trying.
Thanks
Re: Help me find a pattern
I'm partial to attic windows to use with fussy cuts.If you don't like the y seam there are patterns that use a half sq. trianlge block in the corner instead.
sorry about the job thing. we have played that game a few times and it's not fun. there is something better waiting for you I'm sure. good luck.
Re: Help me find a pattern
You could do a star block (9-patch with half-square triangle blocks for the middle blocks in each outside row). That would be simple to do. Use the fussy-cut blocks for the center square. I think it might be called friendship star, but I'm not certain.
Good luck, and don't let the job thing get you down. At 62, I lost my job after 9 1/2 years. When this happens, it's THEIR loss!!!

Re: Help me find a pattern
My first 2 quilts were both these patterns. Just thought it was kinda funny that you suggested these 2 to a beginning quilter. LOL

When I 1st started quilting, I chose patterns that I could easily "see" the steps without an actual pattern and break down into how to do each actual block. If I could see the components that made up the block, I could figure it out without complicated patterns(self taught quilter here, no formal training whatsoever). Both of these foot the bill on that.
