I've done FMQ in an all over pattern, crossing over seams. I have also done FMQ within sections of the quilt and then SID in sections for a specific effect. It all depends on what you're wanting to achieve. Neither is wrong--its entirely personal preference.
When life throws you scraps, make a quilt!
I rarely SITD as I don't like the look. I just FMQ over the whole quilt though nowadays I usually send my tops out to be long-arm quilted.
Okay, I'm going in! FMQ all the way - all over the place!!!!
I rarely FMQ, but when I do I go over all seams. Sometimes I only Ditch, but mostly I send my tops out for quilting now that I can no longer hand quilt (I wore out the joint in my quilting finger).![]()
Go for broke. Stitch over everything. You'll be fine.
Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.

Too scared to FMQ so I can't wait to see how you do!!! Good luck!
Depends. If I'm just stippling the whole quilt, I go over the seams. If I am putting a design in the blocks, I usually SITD first around the blocks and borders. Then I do the FMQ in the blocks/borders.
