    Default Jelly Charm organization question

Not really sure where to post this, but I guess here will work. I bought the California Girl by Moda Charm Pack and Jelly roll to make a quilt for my cousin. I know all the pieces will coordinate with each other, I'm just wondering if I should focus on trying to match up coordinating colors, like tan and yellow, or make them contrasting like brown and blue, coral and green, busy with solids. What is the best way to match up the jelly roll to the charm pack? By best I mean, look the coolest. :-) This is going for a 17-year-old cousin, so I want to be as cool as I can be. :-)

I think the contrasting fabrics would look good together. Which pattern are you going to make?

I'm assuming you are going to frame the charm block with strips from the jellyroll? I think mixing it up works best. It's contrast in color and print that makes a quilt interesting and fun. Don't be afraid to really mix it up and I think you will be thrilled with the result! Barb

Yes, I am planning on framing the charm packs pieces with the jelly roll. Since both are California Girl by Moda, they will mix and match just fine. Having only completed 1 quilt in my lifetime :-) thought maybe I should seek some guidance from the experts, y'all. :-)

One thing to think about is value of the colors, high contrasts of lights and darks helps to define the quilt pattern. To me, the contrasts are what makes the pattern jump out and I say "Cool" when I see a really sharp looking pattern. You go to all the work of piecing your quilt, you might as well let that pattern be seen.

Ha! I've purchased California Girl to make a Jelly Charm as well! I would say that contrast works best and will allow the individual fabrics to shine. Can't wait to see yours.

Ok, will see how well I do. Looks like contrast and color value are what everyone likes. I will do my best. Will post pics when I get some done.
