    Default now i know what she is making

    so lately i notice my mom has a little container next to her lazy boy with cut squares and seen the flowers she was making...i dont know why i didnt think to ask her what she was making...lol but she is making the grandmother flower garden....so i want to make one but i never hand sewn before....i would like to think im pretty good at quilting not a pro but pretty good....is this a hard project? and is it easy enough my my 7 and 10 year old daughter to learn how to hand sew?

    Grandmothers flower garden, I have started the same thing but used the paper piecing method and kept sticking the needle through the paper, so I made enough templates to make a couple flowers out of thick template plastic to sew around. Works great the needle just slides on the plastic. I made a hole in each template so I could pry the plastic out when done. Just an idea that might make it easier.

    You can make these using a sewing machine. Kay Wood shows how to do it in multiple videos. Her examples use larger hexagons but in time and practice you can make them smaller using your sewing machine. I tried it for fun once a few years ago and made a couple blocks.
