Quilting is Better than therapy!
We had one of those "family crisis" things the past few weeks. At one point i didn't think i would make it through. But i made myself go into my sewing room and start on some donation baby quilts for poor families and sure enough, it is getting me thru!!! Although i cannot change what's happened and my heart is broken, i have learned a very good lesson. "What doesn't Kill you, makes you stronger" so i am going to keep sewing quilt tops together and be thankful for the good things i have.
Thank you for letting me vent!!!!! Happy Quilting to you ALL!!
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Thankful that you found something to calm you, hope you continue to gain peace in the face of obstacles you can't control with your sewing.
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Excellent outlook! Hope your troubles ease. Enjoy the therapy!
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Suzi; " I have been there - done that" this past year and I totally agree with you. Quilting does heal a broken heart!
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Dear Suzi, So glad that quilting has been such a good "therapy" - definitely can undertand that! Hoping for happier days ahead for you - Linda
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Thank you Linda: Having you guys here with kind words helps so much!
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Sorry to hear about your crisis but am glad that quilting has helped you. Take care,
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Hang in there! We have all been through some really tough times but my faith in God and the peace that quilting brings is always there for me. My best to you and hope you get through this very fast. Hugs!
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
I had a crisis a few years ago and I wish now I had quilting to help me through. Luckily I had good friends that wouldn't take my 'no' for an answer. But I will say this as it is the same with any hurting time. The hurt NEVER goes away. Ever. I don't care what people say about time healing all wounds and that it gets better with time because it doesn't and it won't. But one thing does happen, as every day goes by you will get a little stronger. And a little stronger. Some of these days you might fall a little downward again, but you will get back up and march on. Eventually the good days will outnumber the bad and one day you will be strong enough to carry the hurt around like it didn't even bother you. But be patient, you have to go at your own speed on this one. Time doesn't heal things, inner strength does. All the best -Tracy
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
I completely agree with you, Suzi. I try to get into my sewing room every day, even if it's just to look at some of the beautiful fabrics I have. Being creative has a healing effect on us. I'm sorry to hear you are going through a terrible time. I will pray for you, as I know many others here will too.

Suzi, my horse got me through some tough times and now I have quilting. Can totally relate. Glad you find solace in doing for others.
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
Could not have said it better myself Tracy. We lost my mother in Sept this past year, and all of us have been affected by it differently. I did get my baby sister into quilting to help her focus on something else, and it has made a world of difference. In the past 3 years I have had to endure emotional pain that no grand mother should have to go through, and I will never entirely heal from it, but as the years go by and my grandson thrives it does make it easier.
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
I agree. Fortunately, my husband is supportive of my hobby (AKA addiction) and when I have handled about all I can with life he either takes me quilt fabric shopping or sends me to my room to de-stress. Hang in there. Things will eventually turn around.

Not sure about healing, but it does make the ache more tolerable. I too am making donation quilts to go to local children's hospital PICU. It is a project that is near and dear to my heart. Give your worries over to the quilt at hand and it will surely comfort you.
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
I agree Suzi, my life is extremely stressful at times. If I didnt have my quilts and other projects to focus on, alot of people arround this house would suddenly be missing persons. Quilting is one of the few things I do that I won't budge on or compromise on. My family has learned that I'm going to do it, it's none of their business how much I spend, and I better not be interupted unless 911 has already been dialed and there better be blood involved! Oh and NO koolaid or chocolate is allowed anywhere near my fabric or sewing stuff(unless it's me eating my chocolate).
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
You are so right Suzi I've been going through a really rough time and quilting is what is getting me through it. When I'm in my sewing room it's almost like my problems don't exist for those few hours. Will keep you in my prayers and just keep quilting if that helps get you through your trying time.
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
I never know the right thing to say to people that are going through a tough time. I can only say I'm sorry you are having a rough time right now and if you need a shoulder to cry on, sneeze on, lean on, try a new quilt square out on, or lightly, very ligghhttllllyyy tap on, I stand at the ready. Prayer's from here.
Re: Quilting is Better than therapy!
I hope your heavy heart is healed soon. And quilting is major therapy. I will had you to may prayers. God bless.
