    Question Quilt labels

Ok, I've been finishing up some quilts and wallhangings and want to put some kind of info on the quilt like date, pattern, etc so that later on I will know when I made it and what pattern it was. Where does everyone get their quilt labels? I'd like to order preprinted ones, or ones that have space for the info and I just fill it in rather than print my own. I've looked online, briefly, but didn't see anything that appealed to me. Thanks girls!!

    Cool Re: Quilt labels

Hi. I go to a guilt shop and some have a panel with preprinted labels. The small wall hangings I use a nice tone on tone and write info on this. For my kids and depending on what I made I might use a small block that was left over.I had colored a little owl & stuck back so when I made my grand-daughter a baby quilt I used this and was perfect and big enough so I could write a little love message.Hope this helped Kendra

Kendra that is such a good idea of saving a nice piece of the fabric and making a label with that, I would never have thought of that! Thanks!!

There are special permanent pens for writing on fabric that are available at quilt shops and art supply stores...Pigma Micron. I like using size 05 (that's the tip size). By using these on your labels your info won't wash out. Barb

Oh you guys, over the wkend. i found a very cool label tutorial/website!!! It started while looking at "Jaybird Quilts", and she has tutorials - one of which is where she tells about another website called Spoonflower.com. You can design your own fabric . . but best part, you can design a yard-worth of labels, they print it out however you want; then ship it to you, and it's only $18 dollars for a possible 90 labels! I'm not savvy enough to do any type of graphic design program, but my 19 year old was up here at lake over wkend and she banged it out in about 20 minutes; and she just used our word processor and no fancy software. So grab a kid and get 'er done!
