    Default Door decor

I got the bright idea of using a tablerunner pattern to make a front door decoration, instead of putting my usual spring wreath on the door. I'd like to make one for spring and one for summer, I'm thinking watermelon for summer and not sure about spring....tulips maybe. Anyone have any good ideas and/or pattern suggestions? Thanks in advance ladies.

What will you do about the fabric fading? I've often thought I'd like to make a quilted item to display on my front porch but I figure it will fade in no time.

My front porch is large and covered, and the front yard is also shady. I was also planning on making several and changing them every month or so. This idea might not work, but it's either make something pretty or buy new wreaths, as mine are getting kind of tattered looking. I honestly didn't think of the fading issue, but don't think it will be a problem for me.

Here is one I made that I think would be great for a door hanging. It was in a book called "Holiday Happenings" by Christal Carter. It's called "The Sweet Valentine Wall Hanging" and measures 26" x 26", made from small log cabin blocks. This can be made in any color you want. My daughter made one in lilacs and it was adorable.
