Default HELP WITH MY JELLYROLL RACE QUILT

I made this jellyroll race quilt from Soul Blossoms by Amy Butler...admittedly one of the busiest jellyrolls around - but I love color and prints. My questions are: Do you think this quilt needs a border and do you think I need to applique a large tropical hot pink flower on it in one corner or is the print enough??

This seems to be a quilt where I don't know when to stop. I like most jellyroll quilts without borders, but have seen some that look terrific with borders.

    I value your input....Barb

I do like borders on my quilts, so I vote for a narrow border--hot pink, lime green, turquoise. I love wild colors, so I loooovvvveeee this!

    I vote for borders also!

Maybe white as narrow inner border, then hot pink outer border.
I love the thought of an applique, I've done it once as a cover up (on very busy fabric aswell), but it came out so nice, I loved it.

Whatever you do, it is a very pretty fabric line and you did great on this quilt!!!!!

    Have fun.

I'm with the designer things in odd numbers - 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 and after that all bets are off.

Thin borders going thicker in white, lime green then ending in your hot pink as in your big popping applique flower!

Very cool prints, love Amy and Annie colors/prints.

    Great job, Ruby

I love the bright colors and vote for a border. I've done 2 now out of my comfort zone and ended up with two quilts finished that I really like. I added borders to mine if you'd care to take a look in my album there's a tumbler and a coin quilt. The coin one is a very busy pattern and it looks nice with the border.

I love the idea you have for an applique flower. That would look so dramatic. I also think this quilt needs a couple of borders and all the suggestions you've gotten for colors sound great! Maybe have the flower growing out of one of the inner borders?

Love the colors! I like the suggestions made for your borders...

I am going to see what you do since I am having the same issue of trying to decide how to end my very first jelly roll race quilt!

CathyF--yes, your bright tumbler quilt is a great example of how a bright border punches out the bright tumblers! I loved that one!

The ideas just keep growing and growing, don't they? It ought to be spectacular when it is finished, it's darn near spectacular right now!

Thanks for all the excellent suggestions! I will do a white inner border and something bright as an outer border. This should be fun....! Barb
