    Default Four Fabric Pattern Ideas

    Hi Everyone

I am sorry I haven't been participating much lately but I have been very stressed at work. After being in the same building for 12 years I've been informed that I am being transferred and the stress of the transfer as well as cleaning out 12 years of stuff has really been hard on me. I spent the first week crying but now that I have come to terms with the change I realize I just have to accept it and move on so I hope to get back to my life which includes quilting.

I am finishing up two UFO and just need to add borders before I can start quilting them and as I am sure many of you have done I am planning my next project. I have four beautiful fabrics that I want to use to make a quilt and have searched the web inside out for patter ideas for 4 fabrics and other than a fourpatch have found nothing. I am hoping that you can help me with ideas.

    Thank you
    Happy Quilting

you could try a pinwheel, or a quilt as you go quilt, or a variation of the three dudes jelly roll quilt,(that would require cutting your fabric into strips). i look up the missouri star quilt co. on youtube and watch alot of their videos and come up with lots of ideas. maybe even a jacobs ladder?

I have been making Evening Star blocks. They require 4 fabric, look difficult but once you have 'got it' they are easy. This is the pattern http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof...ening_star.htm

I did 6 practice blocks with scrap befor I cut into my proper fabric and it was worth it. Once you start putting the blocks together the diamond shapes and larger squares form and the colour value becomes obvious. I learned that actually a light colour on the star points made it pop better in the fabric I am using. When I used the dark the diamonds popped more that the star.

The blocks come out 12x12 ish (actually mine seem to be regularly 11 and a half but as they are consistant I gave up arguing about it lol) Anyway to make my king sized quilt with stars only on the top of the bed it is taking 24 star blocks. The maths is easy for smaller quilts.

Hope this is of some use

Thank you Daisy. It is really beautiful I am going to try it with some scrap fabric to see if I could do it. As a beginner I haven't really tried anything but squares and rectangles but if I could do it it would work beautifully for my fabric. Thanks again!
