Default Has anyone done string blocks?

EDIT - Not string blocks, but string piecing. My mistake. Haven't done it yet.

I poked around this weekend looking at piecing and saw info on 'string' quilting. I.e. using up your scraps and making blocks out of them. Has anyone done this? I have saved every viable scrap from my quilts and thought this would be a fun way to use them up for a scrappy quilt.

Just found this great site www.amisimms.com where she shows how to do string piecing.

I was looking everywhere for a picture of my scrap strip pieced quilt! Guess I never took a picture of it...I just found it last night (it is a WIP!)...I love those kind of quilts because you have a memory of all of your projects!

I did use a tutorial. I used muslin cut into 11-1/2 blocks for mine, so I have five blocks across and six blocks down...you can also do more blocks or smaller blocks depending on what size scraps you had...I had a lot of long pieces left over from binding, borders, etc. At the rate I am making quilts, I could probably make a few more...I used white for my foundation, but I have seen lovely black, grey and reds used as well

Not certain it is what you mean though . . .

    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Bonnie hunter has a perfect tutorial on how to do this - I've made TONS of blocks using her method.

That is exactly what I mean, Katie. I have lots of scraps now, so it seems appropriate to use them up somehow.

I sit down and sew onto 4.5" squares of coffee filters that I've trimmed to size. When I don't feel like working on anything else strings are always waiting for me!

Great thread! Makes me want to get up in my sewing room and look at all those scraps I have thrown in a bin.
