Just wondering what is on your design wall.
Just wondering what is on your design wall.
Hmm do you mean what project do I currently have on my design wall or what have I used to cover my design?
If it is the second then mine is covered with a product that sadly is no longer available that I am aware of. I think it was called something like armorfleece and was essentially a quite dense pellon but it had perfect properties for design walls. Probably your easiest and cheapest option is flannel.

Does fleece work? That has more weight than flannel. Seems like it would hang better than flannel. I personally don't have a design wall. I just use my bed to lay out the blocks. The bedroom in the flat here in London is where I sew. My cutting table is at the foot of the bed and the sewing area by the windows a few feet away. The bed is right there so it's the easiest to use for laying out blocks.

Remember those vinyl table covers that go on sale every spring/summer? Many of them are backed in something (not sure what on earth to call it) that would work great for a larger design wall. It's some kind of white felt fuzzy backing. Anyhow, it works great to plan blocks on. They also make great flannel boards for kids as well.
I don't have a design wall either. I use the floor to lay out my blocks. That's worked fine for me for the past 21 years, so I don't know if I'll ever make a design wall.
When life throws you scraps, make a quilt!
I don't have a place that could be used for a design wall. I just lay my blocks out on my bed. Works for me...except I have to be sure I've done what I want to do before bedtime.

I have a commision quilt on my design wall just now. Aquas, blues and purples with tiny bit of strong deep pink to 'ping'. The Quilt is to be called 'Evening on the Reef'.
I am doing evening stars with boarders of simple piecing, then a plain boarder which will have seaweed and seahorses appliqued onto it and some final boarders. It is large king sized 120"x120" and will take some time as I am not getting into the sewing room much at the moment.
It is for a couple who sail a lot and their first boat was called The Seahorse.
For those of you without space for a design wall, I have heard of folks using roll up shades. They will cover the shade with a "flannel" backed vinyl picnic tablecloth for the stick'em factor and then just roll the puppy up when they want it out of the way.I think it will take up the fabric and all. Maybe someday I'll get around to that.
Nothing on the design wall, just on the cutting table. Lots of blues and purples for Laura Luna, finally.
