Lightbulb Random idea throwing out there......

I was skyping with my sister in WV last night and we were showing each other the blocks we were working on and discussing related things. The conversation began evolving toward our machine's capabilities and suddenly something occurred to me:

"I haven't really used my twin needle function", then my sister and I said it together..."hey...wonder if we can use that for quilting?...hmmmm..........wheels are turning"

So Ladies and Gentlemen.........what do you think about this?
It's all about the journey ...not the destination.......

Yes, yes, yes it can be done . . . anything you can do is possible in quilting. I have a special foot for my sewing machine that allows me to thread in cording and ribbons - then using the twin needles I can stitch designs over the top of the cording and ribbons - I have quilt blocks started for a patchwork effect - another of my UFOs that I need to work on!

I can see you doing quilting with stitch in the ditch and then another stitching in perhaps a different color right alongside it. Sweet!
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I am currently working on a baby quilt and I used Jenny's dtr's Summer in the Park Pattern and made 50 blocks in one day...super easy and looks great. It needs to be put together, bordered and such and but am trying to think of ways to quilt it. I don't have anythng real fancy like so many of the ladies here....just a Embrodiery combo Brother project runaway with a 4 x 4 hoop size.

It is fancy for me. The first new machine I ever had (sad I know). I have had it only a few years and haven't explored its full potential yet which is what is so great about quilting. The discovery process.

Thanks for the ideas Sand...wonder if I have a fancy foot like you do?

Sure. why not?! I used to use the double needle for sewing all the time...for decorative stitch as my machine didn't have many. But for quilting...hadn't thought of it until someone mentioned it while back someplace when I was asking about quilting at the seams and SITD and how to handle one side being "bulkier" than the other because of the pressed seams underneath. Some one said...double needle the STID...and have each needle on each side of the actual seam/ditch. I haven't done it, but intend to...I know it will worka s I am familar with the stitch. But also...I am going to try using doubles and stippling! I think that might be really cool!
