    Default Quilt Backing....

    Hi everyone....

I just finished piecing my quilt (blue - cream - green - pale yellow) using the Twisting the Night Away pattern from Pam and Nicky Lintott's book. I have quite a bit of left over fabric and I'm trying to decide how to piece the back. I found this... .which I really like:

Just wondering if you have a favorite way to make your quilt back....
Thank you ... as always ..... for your help.

    (I'll post a photo after it's finished)

Judy, I have done a little bit of everything with quilt backs. I really like this idea though.

My SIL invited me to her quilt guild several months ago to hear a specific speaker (can't remember her name) but she does fairly modern, abstract-type quilts and always includes some of her extra fabric on the back . . . whether it's a block, something patchy, or even words pieced into a strip.

    Go for it!!
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

John Flynn's backing method uses less fabric for most of the quilts i've made. It uses a diagonal seam, which is nice since it avoids seams rolling over on themselves.

Default Grandma's quilt back on 36 year old quilt front

I just finished a quilt where I made the back a whole different quilt. I had enough fabric for the back and then my husband said I should make the back another quilt to go with my grandma's front quilt that I pieced for her. I made big pinwheels and patch work on the edge. My grandma hand appliqued the ladies 36 years ago and she asked me in Jan. if I would put them together in a quilt for her. We just gave it to her and she was so pleased with it. The little corner squares are from pieces she got in a chain letter thing she did. Anyone else remember the chain letters? :-)
