    Default Tie a quilt....

    Hello ladies,

    I have another question......

In the project of pattern tester I made the Valentine Heart quilt.
I did not want to buy charmpacks or anything so I cut everything from yardage, I had just bought.
This is not a pattern I would make for myself, but I learned a lot by making this, cutting and reading a pattern, getting everything square.....and on top of that an extra quilt from the parts you keep after cutting.

Back to my question......I don't feel like quilting this one.......so I thought about to tie this one.
Seems easy, but I've never done that before.
My quilttop is white and pale pink (the fabric I use all the time.....just bought 4 yard for less then 50 cent a yard) the white I bought at goodwill, those are hospital sheets....very nice cotton! I like the colors, but it is not my taste to use just two colors.....but it is growing on me.

Back to my question........what do you guys think about this.
I would go out and try to find the same pink color and tie the whole thing........

To make a long story short: http://quiltingintherain.blogspot.co...tie-quilt.html this is what I found, I like her blog a lot!!!
Should I get coton thread or what is the normal thing to do??????

Should I go for this or should I quilt it? My quilting skills are not very good, and this is all 2 solid colors......

Klasien, I use a #8 Pearl Cotton thread or a #5 crochet thread for tying quilts. Wonder what you may have available in Holland. I would say go for it!! I love tied quilts.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Klasien, when I do quilts I don't want to spend a lot of time quilting. I use bar tacks at the places where the pieces come together. Or I use stitch in the ditch. Sarah posted a Valentine quilt on the blog of mine that was "Jenny tutorial inspired" and I stitched in the ditch on that one. It is pink and black print with a big red heart in the center, all made of half/square triangles. No tying, and it took me an hour to finish it this way. I was going to FMQ it, but had technical difficulties. I can still do that in between the ditch stitching.

I have used perle cotton, embroidery floss (all 6 strands) or even yarn to tie quilts. I think the perle cotton holds up better. The yarn gives a slightly fuzzy look after it's been washed.
