longarmer mess up resolved
Hi everyone. I thought I would share some things about my recent post about a bad quilting job. I took the quilt to another longarmer who is very well respected here and also sells longarms, gives classes on them and her staff also know their stuff. There were several things wrong....the first was using a different color thread in the bobbin. The second was her tension on the top, or even both, was off. Third, quite a few of the loops were areas where she stopped and began. So, the owner showed me how to hide those loops...but in this case they were so bad, it didn't work. I ended up giving her the name of the person who did the work because she sold the woman her long arm and wants to get her in to fix the thing and also give her free lessons on how to properly start and stop.
Long story short...they are not charging me to rip everything out, charging me $5 a yd for new backing (which is pretty nice fabric) and will quilt it. I feel better about it, and I left a message to my friend so we can talk. I am going to pay her for her supplies, which I think is fair.
And no....I will not use her again. Even the owner, who knows this woman, couldn't understand why she did what she did. She thinks she just didn't know what to do. Anyway...just so you know.
