I am one that does not quilt with white or neutrals, I either pick a color and go with it or use variegated thread, so I am used to the thread making a statement on the quilt. Your quilt colors are really pretty. I do not care for the purple. It distracts from the beauty of the fabrics. I would look for variegated with green and turquoise, or use any other color in the quilt if I was making it.

That being said, it is your quilt, you can see how it looks in person which is often completely different than on any computer picture. If it pleases your eye, go for it. If you look at it and you get the feeling it is off, try something else. I think you must not really care for it or you would not be asking for other opinions.

No matter what, with that stencil, and those fabrics, it will be gorgeous.

    Good Luck!

If it is what you like go for it. I don't know what the entire quilt looks like. I might suggest using a white or cream on the patterned parts and the purple with your pretty quilt pattern on the white strips to give it that extra color you are looking for.

How weird, I still can't see my pictures in my album, except a few of them. I uploaded the picture again so I can post it. This is what the whole quilt looks like:

I think I would have the same blending in problem with red as I did with white. Hmmm - maybe a turquoise thread then? I have a local craft store that sells some thread, I have bought 4 and taken 3 back so far. I'm sure they think I'm crazy. I put the quilt on the frame just assuming I would use white. I don't want to take it off so I'll just bring the thread to the quilt - he he he

I agree, either turquoise/aqua or maybe a green would be pretty.

I have to agree, I think you need a cream or some other color. I think you'll be much happier with the end result.

The other color that would work very well is a green, it hides where it's supposed to but shows up nice where you want it. I would suggest the color green that is in your quilt. A soft Limey green.

When I make a quilt, I like the pattern of the quilt and the fabrics to stand out with the quilting used as an accent and to give the quilt depth and added interest. So I don't want my quilting to draw attention away from the quilt, which is what a darker color might do. I would use a light green or white thread. BUT if you want the quilting to be an equal partner to the fabrics, go for it!

I love this quilting community :-)
I think I'll finish the border with the purple since it's such a busy print and then use a soft green for the middle. Or turquoise if I can't find green ... really wish I had a LQS. Oooh, maybe I can locate a variegated turquoise-green and just solve all dilemas :-)
Thank you again for your help. I'm going to go play with thread colors and see if I can make up my mind what I like.
