I feel your pain! Right before Christmas I'd sent a wallhanging that was my mom's Christmas present to the longarm quilter. When I got it back I was speechless!! First, she charged me more than double what I was quoted, and then the quilting job was hideous to say the least. Like yours, mine had nests all over the back of it, her stitches were many different lengths, and it just looked really, really bad. Then to top it all off, like your quilter lady, she trimmed it!!! I thought maybe I was getting overly upset about it, but took it to my quilting group the next evening and showed them, they too were appalled.

So, like you, I ripped and ripped and ripped and ripped threads every evening and anywhere we went, it went along and I was ripping stitches in the car. I was able to have it requilted by someone else, but it really took some work. I will never use that quilt shop again, nor will I use that quilter again. I don't understand why some quilters feel they need to trim the quilts when they are done. That should only be done by the quilt owner. Anyway, it is now hanging on my mom's wall and looks nice, but oh the misery I remember when I see it! Hang in there and happy ripping!!

I'm sorry but this really upsets me. She should have quit the minute she knew she had the problem. If I was quilting for someone I'd repeatedly check the back to make sure all was ok. We spend too much love, time and money in our quilts for someone to do this to.

I'm truly baffled! Don't understand how she could return it to you like that! If so, I'd be making lots of noise over this!!! I feel sorry for the next person who hires her. From what you said I'm assuming a shop recommended her. Have you talked to the quilt shop and shown them what happened? They need to know! They won't want to refer their customers to her if they see the mess she made of your quilt, and that's a good thing. I'd feel bad if I didn't bring it to their attention. I'd want to save some other poor soul who put his or her trust in this person's lack of skill from ruining their quilt as well.

I am shocked and appalled that such a thing could be done in this way.

The lady who quilted this 'disaster' is obviously not a member of this forum! We'd run her outta town!

I am so sorry you have this mess to clean up.

The advice given by the lovely ladies here is probably very good advice.

    I wish you luck
May your sorrows be patched and your joys be quilted

She has done other quilts of mine and others..all friends and family, and I never had this problem from her. She is not working through any shop, just trying to see if she could make it a go on her own. I don't know...I am baffled as well. This is not like her. She even showed me where she accidently cut the wrong part of the border but fixed it! I don't know....I feel like a touch of jealousy has played a role in this. I don't want to go down that road...but I had to say it. I will try to post the front later today so you all can see what it is. I could remake the quilt faster than I could take out the stitches!! : ) We have several excellent quilters in town that I can use in the future.
