I agree with Sandy, washing the fabric whether before or after the quilt is made helps the softness. I just bought a charm pack, which I have at home and got on discount at M*QC. I also, today, ordered the jelly roll that coordinates fabrics with the charm pack. I only need one of each to do the pattern I want. It is on youtube.com by M*QC and somebody on here called it a bento box. You just wrap the charm with a string of the jelly roll. One and one. You will have leftovers from the jelly roll which is used in the border. The name of the product I bought is by Riley Blake Designs and is called scoot. If you want to look at all the fabrics in the charm or jelly roll pack you just log on to the site thru M*QC (they have a drop down menu) and scroll under the picture and it shows you all the fabrics. You just click onto it to see it bigger. The total I paid for the charm and the jelly roll was just under $30 and you don't have a lot of waste, which is important to us quilters. What you do have left, goes where? The stash!! Of course!! All you would have to do is buy the backing and you can watch the sales as you put this together. There are other fabrics, my Moda, for example--"Ooh la la" in blues or pinks. This quilt makes a twin bed size and that will last your nephew a long time. He could use it in the crib to start with. Good idea? Hope this works for you. Piece and blessings, Vicki
