I'm working on my "Colores" quilt and really liking how the blocks are turning out. The finished blocks are 14" square, and the instructions recommend making the quilt top 6x6, which makes it 84" square. Not quite big enough for a queen bed. I've decided I'd like to add black sashing between the blocks, to make them stand out more. I've been playing around with widths and no matter what I do I end up with a quilt that is either too big or too small. Right now I'm considering a 5x6 layout, 5" border around the outside, and 2" sashing between the blocks. This gives me a quilt that's 88"x104". Is that going to be too disproportionate? I'm REALLY open to suggestions here! Thanks
