Duh, I'm a little slow

I just figured out what the DP9 was. Watched the tutorial, and of course had to go down to the sewing room to try it out! Fun, and in an hour, I had a pretty good collection of blocks made. Nice idea to fall back on when you need something colorful and quick! I'm putting that one in my bag of tricks for emergency quilt making 101! I did have some charm packs that I was willing to "sacrifice", just in case I messed up. It made a pretty small quilt, but it could be used for a cute but small baby quilt with some sashing added.

I made a tote bag with this pattern and acharm pack that I really didn't like - the tote turned out great and I ended up liking the material!

I love the D9P...very versatile and quick to make! It looks a lot more difficult than it is! Barb

I have made several quilts with the DP9 and just learned about the DP4 as well.....the DP9 quilt is a great stash busting quilt and goes together fairly quickly...I love it! Will be starting a project soon with the DP4 which is a bit different but again looks like you worked your little tail off and it is just a matter of cutting and moving a few pieces around and looks fantastic.

'kay, I must be really slow. What is a D9P? I assume the 9P is a nine patch, but what does th 'D' stand for?

Welcome to the club Alaina. I couldn't get it either until I saw the tutorial. Now I understand how the 9patch look disappears!

Love this quilt, it was my first quilt and I think lots of people start with this one.

I never made the D9P so this morning I made a block with some leftover charms I had and loved it. I am going through my limited stash to see what I can come up with for a D9P quilt. After the horrible quilting day I had yesterday really need something easy to lift my quilting spirits.

It looked so intriguing to me that I started the same way. I cut a pack of fat quarters I had found as coordinates from Wal-Mart last night into 5" squares last night, i'm going to try again. My first attempt was sloppy, this time I'll be more careful. I also want more squares to make the finished product bigger. I used 3 small charm packs with 21 squares in each, and it ended up so tiny, with multiple borders, it will be a tiny baby quilt. Ah, the perfect project to practice FMQ on!
