Re: jelly roll quilt
I've made three of them this week. I developed a formula for how to determine how many strips to use to make your quilt a certain width. Decide how wide you want it to be. Multiply that by 32 ( how many rows are in a jelly roll quilt). This will be in the range of 1600 to 2350. This is how long your first long strip needs to be. Measure how long your jelly roll strips are and subtract the seam allowance you'll cut off for seaming them together (typically 44-3=41). Divide the big number by 41 to get the number of strips you'll need to make that length. If you have more than one jelly roll that is the same pattern, you can make a wider quilt to cover a big bed. I just made one for a queen, and used 55 strips. I added some more rows to the bottom adding one Row at a time to make it longer. That took some more strips.
