Re: Need help Stitch in the Ditch on this quilt....What pattern do I travel?
I've just started machine quilting and have only done one wall hanging. This has so many pieces! I think you may need to pick and choose what areas you want to stitch around and not do every piece. For inside the block area, you could do it in this order without breaking a thread:
Example:
1. stitch across the top of the big blue square going to the right,
2. then stitch the right/top triangle,
3. then the right side of the square,
4. then the right/bottom triangle,
5. then the bottom of the square,
6. then the left/bottom triangle,
7. then the left side of the square,
8. then lastly, the left/top triangle.
Then you could go around either the inside or the outside of the brown border of each block
Then maybe you could choose to SITD the light brown squares with the connecting flowered strips in only one direction, either vertically or horizontally. I think I would go with the length of the quilt.
From there I have no idea!
Hope this helps in some insane way! Can't wait to see what you decide. Good luck...you've got your work cut out for you!
Oh, and I just thought... I don't know if you use a walking foot for doing SITD, but I saw a Leah Day video where she does SITD with a free motion foot so she doesn't have to turn her quilt a lot. Just a thought.
BTW, your quilt is beeeeauuutiful!
