Red face What to use for batting

    Hello All,
I am stumpped about something. When anyone does a large quilt, how do you do the batting? I live in the middle of no where lol and I usually get my batting from Wal Mart and it comes in a package but I am not sure if it is big enough to do a large (queen, king) quilt. How does someone do that?
All comments and suggestions would be wonderful
    Thanks bunches,
    Marsha

Are the packages marked as to size? I use packaged batting and there are at least 4 sixes. Crib/lap/craft, full, queen and king. I don't live in a Wal-Mart only zone anymore ( but I did for 8 years!), so
I'm not sure what they sell anymore. The suburban Wal-Marts stopped selling fabrics--darn!

Thank you for this info. I will have to read on the packages next time I go. Our Wal Mart still has a craft/fabric dept but it has been majorly down sized

Marsha, do you have a Jo-Anns within traveling distance? BTW you can order from them on-line and have it shipped to you. Also, try finding the website for HOBBS batting - the best in my estimation!

Our Wal-Mart (I am NOT a fan of Wal-Mart and only frequent them if ABSOLUTELY necessary) did downsize but people complained and they redid the store and put in a very LARGE fabric section - probably 8 aisles . . . just saying.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

All my batting here is marked with the size. Yours over there should be too.

In a pinch you can always piece together batting. I never throw any of it away. I just cut a clean edge butt two pieces together, use my edge joining foot and zigzag them together. There is also a type of tape for sale that you iron to tape them together.

that's what I'm doing right now, zizagging together my leftover batting pieces, which I've neatly cut before.
Counting what I have, it might be a lap size quilt or at least a big baby quilt.
That reminds me, have to take those pieces out of the washing machine and hang them up, before going to bed.

I usually buy the next size up in the lower sizes, but then I have coupons for Joanns and that is usually where I buy my batting. The King I usually buy for a king size quilt and so far have not had any problems. Good luck.
