jumping in ..... your question of how many can not be answered as simply as 1 or 2 because when you are choosing your jelly roll you will also need to take into account how many strips are in the roll ..... some are as few as 20 and some as many as 46 or more ..... my suggestion to you is to grab one in a fun print you like or if you have some stash, cut strips and make a couple of braids as a trial run - that way you will know how many strips you need to complete the braids in the length you want them. This will also give you practise practise practise in making them perfect for yours son very special quilt just my nickle..... look forward to see what you come up
