SPACE AND COUNTER TOP!!!!!!
Is more time an Item............???????
I'm so happy with the little space I have, I could not think of anything more.
Just made a shoppinglist for my trip to Atlanta, and I will go and look for templates and tools, cuttingmats things like that I could need in my area. Those are very expensive overhere, so hopefully I can find some stuff on a good price!
Other then that I am very very happy with my sewing-wall.....;)
My sewing table has a lift but I didn't want to pay for the expensive insert. Instead I took heavy plastic, cut a hole in it for my foot plate and it creates a flat area around the machine. There are little plasticy stick on "feet" that I placed just inside the hole of the table to keep it from moving around.
Since I explained that so poorly I just added a photo
I can relate to those "ex" scrapbookers.. 1/2 my storage areas contain materials for future albums. And photos!! *don't get me started there*. (15 years accumulation)
My wish is for space to contain it all.... And I have a very meager fabric stash. It's the 2 machines and now a serger (i hope to rehabilitate after 15 years of neglect).. wood floors = bouncing tables, so I need some carpet under them.
I keep looking around and measuring, but the space doesn't change.. so I have to. Going vertical?? been there, done that!
yes, a ROOM! I don't have a dedicated room and move about the house to do my quilting. it's a pain, but necessary at this point.
Ooooh Lonelygamerswife, what a great $$$ saving idea! Where oh where did you get the plastic and what was your cutting technique to get your opening for the needle plate? Inquiring minds NEED to know! I have a sewing table that I am using/storing for a friend (using with permission!) and I really can't afford the insert.
I also found a cutting table that I want to make on a blog. It's perfect for my needs and I think it will go far in getting my room organized. DH even said it looks 'doable'! LOL The blogger got her bookshelves at IKEA, but ours is over 2 hrs. away. I am thinking I can find some at the local Lowes for much less and they would be just as sturdy. Opinions on that please! Here's the link to the blog with the cutting table. Scroll all the way to the bottom. There is even an idea for building up the top for you taller gals and it would even give extra storage. Drawers could be built in that opening, not an option for me because of my height, but a good idea.

If Melanie adds another "story" the table will be moved to "older posts".
I could fall in love with that TABLE!! Makes me look at my bookcases in a different light... Yes, I do have enough, but they are NOT tall enough when turned to their sides.. maybe another layer of book cases? Looking for more..SPACE,,,,
I just used this http://www.joann.com/quilter-s-thick...x18-/prd37964/ - Template plastic for quilting. I used an exacto knife to cut out the hole.
I also realized I never added my one item...
A dedicated ROOM! We have to look into a back up generator for the basement sump pumps before I'll move our treadmill and a few other items down there. We want to make that into a family room - and move down our giant 10 foot long couch (that's seen better days). With all that moved, I can rearrange somethings upstairs and create a dedicated sewing area. Granted, it'll probably still be in my front room, but I will have more space to collect more fabric - muahahahahaha! Hubby will love that.
Me too Granny Judy, in fact, I think I have fallen in love with it. I have spent more time than I should have looking at Lowes online and I can't find anything there that would work as well, or for a better price, WalMart either! I am going to see if I can rally a few friends to make the trip to IKEA with me very soon. Hubs really seems on board with this project. If I can get it, I can eliminate a metal shelving unit and another bookcase from my sewing room. I can then put shelves on the wall, it will make my room seem larger than it is and be a better use of space. I really want the wheels on it, but it will bring it up a bit too high for me, but I am thinking a small foot stool may be manageable to have that beautiful cutting table to work on! LOL
That is a great idea the cutting desk at http://melaniedramatic.com/ They also have a desk that attaches to it that would be a great sewing table. I just may have to make a trip to Ikea !
