    Question Is it just me?

I am making pinwheels from a charm pack (Jenny's tutorial). Is it just me or are these way harder than they look? I am having an awful time matching my points! Any tips or is this one to put away and try not to think about?? (I hear everyone has one of those!)

Well, I haven't seen her tutorial, but I know I press my seams open on something like this, and it helps...

I find that when you sew through the points it helps to have the seam allowance on top facing away from you and the one on the bottom facing towards you. The feed dogs then help to lock them together

This!! Press your middle seams in opposite directions so that when you sew them they "nest" together. I've also done the pinwheels with open seams but I've found the opposing seam technique works the best.

Locking seams should definitely do the job.

I love these blocks and have made three baby quilts using this method. I used a scant 1/4" seam. Also I found cutting them very carefully helped. Don't move the block when cutting, move the ruler. I've tried ironing seams open and closed and didn't find much difference except the time it took. The pieces do come out very small! I've liked using charm packs to make the scrappy nine-patch blocks from her tutorial much, much easier and just as cute. Good luck on your pinwheels! I hope you're able to get those points to line up and not get too discouraged about it!

What a great video! I am amazed at the techniques - I will have to give that a try! (and loved the OZ references!! - and yes it did sound like Glenda...)
