Default Super Bowl Sunday for Sewists

About 30 years ago, one local fabric shop owner in our fair city started the trend to open her store on Super Bowl Sunday, back in the olden days when many stores weren't open on Sunday. She thought all those bored football widows would like something else to do while the man of the house was going crazy over the last football game of the year. She was so smart! The idea caught on, and now, many of the shops are having open houses, sew-ins, special sales, and just giving the women something to do while the hubs are cheering for their favorite team. Now, I know there are plenty of female footbal supporters, many in my own family, but for this gal, I hope to make the rounds this afternoon and pick me up some more stash!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday, and may you spend it however your little heart desires!

That sounds like a lot of fun for the football widows. I love football and am sitting in front of the computer watching all the pre-game segments. I feel sorry for DH he is not a football or any type of sports nut like I am and he is not enjoying the tv at all. Poor baby.. I did finally knock some sense into him and got him interested in Nascar. But now we can't watch it because Springfield changed the tv station from Fox to something else and Fox is on a channel that will not come in here in the boonies on our antenna. Rats!!!!!

    Jean, enjoy your shopping.

My favorite local quilt shop is open on Sunday every week from 12 - 4. They're having Super Bowl specials and a sew in and then everyone can still get home in time for the game. So quilters who love football can have their cake and eat it, too! Enjoy shopping!!

Gee, Babs, sounds like you guys ate well! I had pretzels and a banana for dinner. The local shop that I went to was humming, I found quite a few bargains, so many I could hardly hold the bolts to wait in line. Luckily, they had a full staff cutting, so I didn't have to wait too long.

Yesterday, I was at Joanns, and the line was incredibly long with 2 cutters. One fully-bearded man was patiently waiting for his wife, and as they left, he muttered, "I was clean shaven when I came in here!" I about split a gut laughing at that one, and the lady cutting my fabric had to remeasure because my laughing made her lose count! The stash has grown significantly this weekend.
