Need quilting suggestions
I have finished putting the borders on my quilt and I'm looking for suggestions as to how I should quilt it. First of all, this is only the 4th large quilt I have made. I haven't done any quilting since the '90s due to some medical issues. So, I can't hand quilt. With my other quilts, I have had them long arm quilted. Others I have done I stitched in the ditch or hand tied. I sew on a '48 Singer 66-16 in a cabinet. I am looking for suggestions as to what to do? Should I go with long arm stitching again and if so, what pattern does everyone suggest. I consider myself pretty much still a beginner, but since joining this site, I am so inspired. Please don't look too closely, as I know I have made some boo-boos. And the two border prints were not my first choice, but I had difficulty finding yardage enough in the prints I wanted. Thanks to everyone! Sue
Re: Need quilting suggestions
It's beautiful!!!
I can't help you with your question, I started quilting just a couple of months ago, so all I do is straight lines......;)
Good luck on your quilting, you did great on the top, I can't wait to see it all done!!!
Re: Need quilting suggestions
I just had a very similar pattern quilted. The long arm quilter suggest an all over pattern with curves since the blocks are so linnear. She was right, it turned out beautiful, the quilting complements the blocks instead of fighting them. I love your fabrics and the blocks are a beautiful design. You should be proud!
Re: Need quilting suggestions
Just wanted to comment on what a pretty quilt that is!
Re: Need quilting suggestions
dpa6460, Can you post a pic of your quilt so I can see the longarm pattern she did? BTW....Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments.
Re: Need quilting suggestions
I've had one quilt long-armed. After doing that, if I could afford it, I'd send them all out to be done.
You quilt is very pretty, nothing wrong with the border fabric that I can see.
Re: Need quilting suggestions
That is very pretty and I see no problems at all with any of it. Great job. On the quilting what ever you feel comfortable with, doing yourself or if you can LAQ. Me I can't afford LAQ so I would do it myself and just "SITD" with my walking foot. (yes I am a CHICKEN!!!!!)
Thanks for sharing :)

Re: Need quilting suggestions
I think this is absolutely gorgeous! I just can't see anything at all wrong with it! I don't think I could even afford to take mine to be quilted but if you can I would say go for it! Again, it is just lovely!
Re: Need quilting suggestions
Whatever you wind up doing, consider yourself a wonderful quilter! That is spectacular.
Re: Need quilting suggestions
This is just beautiful! I've never seen this pattern before - it is so interesting. Great fabric choices. You did such a great job! Thanks for sharing.

ps However you quilt it I'm sure it will look lovely.
Re: Need quilting suggestions
Isn't this a variation of the 10 minute block?
Re: Need quilting suggestions
Karen, This is a 10 minute block. I used layer cakes and jelly rolls to make my blocks. It was super easy and really goes together quickly when you have all your materials. LOL! Sue
Re: Need quilting suggestions
I don't think it's going to matter how you quilt it...it's gorgeous!
Re: Need quilting suggestions
I hope you can see this. If you focus on the red block you can see the quilt design of the cotton bud.
Re: Need quilting suggestions
Thanks Doris!! I have been searching for long arm designs to see if I find one I like. Sue
Re: Need quilting suggestions
I would echo the diamond shape outside of the actual diamonds and in the intersections of the rail fence blocks. Just make a template of the shape out of card stock or something heavy and draw around it. It think that would really show off the diamond shapes. What a beautiful quilt!
