Default borders and binding (for purple quilt)

Last night I finished putting my blocks together for he purple quilt I am working on. So I decided to lay my blocks out and see what I have. Before adding any borders it is 21" x 36". So I have two options I can border the heck out of it or I can get another jelly roll and make some more blocks to make it bigger. I am wanting a lap quilt out of this. What do you suggest?

Then I move on the issue of what kind of border I want and binding. I think for the backing I am going to go with a white/purple combo so its not so dark lol. I was thinking about a black smaller border and then a purple larger border.

Let me hear your ideas ladies im going looking at fabric today! Notice I didnt say i was going to buy but i am going to look! haha!

OMG I love it! Did you use a particular jelly roll or just your stash? For borders, were you looking to lighten it up or keep it in the darker way? If lighter, maybe put a small border of white (hard to tell from the photo if there is white or lighter pink/purple), then a purple or black. That would make it pop I think. What does anyone else think? That would make a gorgeous quilt for Quilts for Kids. Our chapter told us they were low on boys/teens quilts, so I am trying to go in that direction for them. I have 2 boys so I have lots of extra guy type fabrics. My next QFK that I want to make is using the spider web design they came out with. Are you making this for a gift?

Love it, your choice of fabrics is perfect so eye appealing! I would use a narrow black border to frame your blocks and then use the purple for your outer border. I think that purple border would be striking and the darker tone would be richer looking against those fabrics. I would use the purple for the binding to. Can't wait to see it done what a beauty!

Oh I kind of like that idea of adding the white border too! Yes there is white in the this. I used a jelly roll from hobby lobby for this one. This is actually going to be in a silent auction for our relay for life. I saw that yesterday for the quilts for kids that they are low on boys/teens stuff. I plan on going through my stuff tomorrow to see if I can come up with something to put together a quilt or two. I also requested a kit yesterday and Im looking into starting a chapter here. I will have to go look at their spider web design I dont think I saw that. Thanks for your suggestions!

    I love it!

Tha fabric is so pretty, and the block turned out very very nice!
You did great on this top, I'm sure it will turn out gorgeous after borders and quilting it!

I have a jellyroll waiting to be made in this same pattern, so now I know how big it's going to be.

I love the colors and I love the suggestions already made. You may want to add a few more squares for a bit bigger size before your boarders, but not to many. I would figure out what the finished size is to be and how wide your borders are before adding more squares.

Very nice, love the fabric. You did a great job putting it together. Can't wait to see it borders & all. Thanks for sharing.

That is beautiful! I would definitely get a black border in there and maybe white or purple. I think the black would make the fabric designs pop. Let us know what you find today. This is also a pattern I have admired, was it difficult to piece?

That's exactly what I was going to say, but then saw that cathy had already said it. So "ditto" Cathy's suggestion.

If your quilt only measures 21 x 36 I would go get another jelly roll before adding borders. Right now it will probably only cover someone's lap and leave their knees sticking out. What you've done so far looks great. The colors worked up very pretty.
