Has anyone done a block like this?
[ATTACH=CONFIG]15035[/ATTACH
I really like this pattern and I get the 60 degree triangle and the strips around it, but I don't get how to make them all equal,
what I mean is that there is no long piece going down any side. they are all the same which I think gives it a better effect.
Has anyone done this or come across it that could help me out.. maybe I'm having a seniors moment but I just can't get it.
thanks in advance, cheers to all..

Re: Has anyone done a block like this?
I've seen this type of a block explained. Now, let's see if I can remember well enough to explain it to you.
Start sewing one side to the triangle, stop about halfway down the seam. (purple)
Switch and sew the yellow side on, then the green and finish the purple.

Easiest way for me to explain was make a picture.

L O V E it!! the picture is beautiful use of colors and KAREN ... you rocked those directions!! :D
Re: Has anyone done a block like this?
If you do this block make sure you actually mark where you need to stop sewing in order to add the second and third strip. You need to secure the seam so it doesn't pull out before you attach the next strip. Fons and Porter don't actually backstitch. They sew 'til they get to the mark (1/4" away from the edge of the fabric). They leave the needle in the fabric. Turn the fabric in the opposite direction and sew a few stitches rather than backstitch. They say (I agree) that you can't really see where to stop when sewing backwards. It's more accurate to turn the fabric.
Great block. Love those fabrics! If there a pic of the full quilt? I'd like to see it to get the full affect.

OOO! I really like that too. Thanks for sharing and thanks Karen for the easy explanation. Another item for the to do list. I think I better actually start a real list because I'm forgetting all the things I want to do.

I really like this. Kinda like a log cabin. I think Jenny should do a tutorial on this with the triangle template that I just bought yesterday. lol..You should repost this picture asking for a tutorial.. :)

Re: Has anyone done a block like this?
Love that pattern. I have a magazine with a pattern like this in it. If you try this and still have trouble putting it together, I'll check the instructions in the magazine It's on my to-do list and I've turned the page back so it will be easy for me to find.
Think I'll take it with me today and read the instructions because you have made me wonder just how they piece theirs.
Hmm. I'll let you know what I find out.
