    Default Is scrappy real scrappy.......

Today I made 100 blocks for a scrappy quilttop.....all out of my stash and scraps.
I used I think over 30 different fabrics, some very old from when the kids were small, some new! Lots of memories when I was working on the blocks.
The colors are almost every color you can think of, but lots of blue and beige.
Now my question, when I see a scrappy quilt it always looks so nice as if the colors where all picked out just for that quilt.
Mine is real scrappy I guess.
Are there rules to put the colors in a certain order?
I'm a little confused now I see all the colors of the blocks.....

    Please help........

I agree Barb, just jump right in there and have fun. I am addicted to scrappies and have found that once you have eight or more different fabrics together, they just automatically play nicely together. Your quilt will be fine, Klasien, and it too will look like the colours were picked out purposely, specially if you pick up that blue and beige in your border.

    Klasien,
While visiting a fabric store, I stopped to admire a very large, postage stamp quilt hanging on the wall. When I looked closely, I noticed the placing of color was totally random. There were reds next to purples & orange and black, navy & hunter greens side by side. Yet when you stood back.... all of the colors were beautifully blended together ! Many scrappy quilters put their fabric in a bag and whatever they pull out, is the next fabric to be stitched into their quilt. There are no rules.... just please yourself !

One of my favorite quilts that I have made was a scrappy tumbler done a few years ago. I kept this one and use it most of the time. Just realized I never took a picture of it before. These tumblers are 2 & 1/2 inches high.

When I did my pinwheel quilt I put all the blocks in a basket and then just randomly pulled them out and sewed them together. I personally find if I try to put blocks together for a scrappy look it doesn't come out as well if I just pull them randomly. I think your quilt will look fine.

Hey I just love THAT quilt.
That' s what I'll be doing one day.
Knitted something similar, I think it's in one of my albums
I've got so much fabric to get rid of.

You were right with what you said, Klasien! You are making a one-square block, so each one is a block in itself.

Okay thanks Rebecca, I thought that by putting squares together that makes the block.....I made 100 squares with 200 little squares on two of the corners, now I put four of them together that makes the finall block, then I make rows.......I've learned SO much these last couple of months!!!!

    I make the X & O block!!! Looks good

PS: I'm making this scrappy top because my fabric that came in last week from MSQC looks soooooo pretty, I'm just looking at it.......almost to beautiful to open up and cut in pieces......but some day I will be brave and open them!!!
