Default Friendship braid, half hexi and tumbler tempate patterns...need ideas for using them

I am going to make a quilt for my son (29) and using the Battle Hymn charm paks and dark blue or dark red as the main solid...probably for the sashing, borders and binding.

I would like to use the friendship braid (with half hexi)and/or tumbler patterns/templates with dark red and/or blue as sashing, borders and binding. And possibly with having some blocks in there some where.

I am new at this and I haven't seen many of either of these templates used, so I'd like to ask if you have done one, would you please share or send the link in your album where you have one? or if you have an outside link to this style/pattern. Send anything you think that might inspire me with this technique as it is my first time doing this style. Normally I applique on the block and then sash together.

    Thanks!

This lap size took 2 charm packs for the front (face). I used the tumbler template and did my own quilting by using a zig zag stitch following the seam lines.

I love the Friendship Braid! I'm thinking of making a lap quilt for my sister using that pattern.

Hi I just did a friendship braid using the half-hexie. I did not use the layercake though, I used regular material and cut into strips as wide as my template. This is an easy quilt to do, however you need to know to make your ends even on each side. If you are using the 10inch half-hexie it takes about 36 pieces (18 on each side) for a queen size length. If I can do it, anybody can. Good luck! If you are a more visual person there is a great how to video Jenny does just for this, you probably already know that though - kellie
