Hate my iron. The fastest auto-shut off I've ever had. You can't turn it back on unless you unplug then plug it back in. POS. Grr.

I have a Oliso that I bought on Amazon. It was a very reasonable price for such a nice iron especially after I compared it to some at Target. I also have a small travel iron with a really sharp point that I like to use when I have smaller blocks to iron.
I don't like an iron that requires special water.

I had a Rowenta and just threw it away, the "auto-off" feature got stuck, and it wouldn't turn back on. Went back to a cheap Sunbeam from K-Mart, and when it gets messed up, I'll buy another $20 iron to replace it.

My irons don't stand a chance of surviving in my house which is why I buy the cheap Walmart ones.

I have a rowenta---don't know the model though. I got it at Joann's on sale. Love it!!!!! I won't let my family use it because I don't want them to ruin it.

I got a Rowenta for Christmas this past year. I LOVE IT! It has the auto shut off, I thought I would not like that at all but I do. When I pick it up and move it it comes right back on! It has an auto clean setting. So if you have bad water (like we do) you can clean the iron and it wont get clogged up and cause leaking. It also has the cord reel in the bottom, push the button and the cord goes right up in the bottom. Bad news is it was marked $99 but at Christmas it was $40 so I don't know if you can get that price now! Before that I had a Black & Decker and a Sunbeam. Both of them leaked. My guess was the bad water we have! Good luck on your search!

I have a Rowenta, not cheap but well worth the money! Have had it 2 years and it's as good today as it was when I bought it.

My Sunbeam worked fine until I accidentally ironed over some tulle. Anyone know how to get melted tulle off the bottom of an iron? I've liked it and don't really want to buy a new one.

Sounds like a game of chance with whichever iron we buy. I had a Rowenta that I LOVED, bought another and it's terrible - leaks, turns off as fast as it can and doesn't come on again quickly. Bought a heavy Black and Decker thinking the weight would help for pressing - it's a fast-off act, too. Have been using a cheap old Black and Decker that doesn't have the energy saver feature, but I could use something better. I appreciate all your advice - you all mentioned a couple of brands that were new to me that I'll look into. As for the tulle - did you try pressing over some waxed paper and then trying to wipe the sole plate while it's still hot with a paper towel (being careful not to burn your fingers)? There are sole plate cleaners out there, too.
If anyone else has an iron recommendations, I'm open to all. I'm loving having go-to people when I have questions! Thanks!
