Default I'm making my first quilt and I would love some advice

Thanks to all the great tutorials I started playing around with my Mom's sewing machine, and since my sister is due in a few months I decided to give it a shot a make my first quilt, so...
    1. My sister chose the Lollipop Jelly Roll by Sandy Gervais. Is one jelly roll enough for a baby quilt?
    2. I'm looking for a calm backing, preferably from one of the fabrics that are part of the jelly roll, but in my search I only found two loud orange (fishies cherry and flower cherry) fabrics that are sold by the yard. Are the're any other calmer options that I missed?
    thanks!

I just made a baby quilt using a jellyroll for my cousins baby. I just did a simple strip quilt. So to answer your question yes you can use a jellyroll to make a baby quilt. I do not know about the yardage fabric though sorry!

I just checked Burgandy Buttons and they have 4 calmer fabrics sold in yardage. http://burgandybuttons.com Just search "lollipop" and they are at the bottom of the list. Hope this helps!

yes a jelly roll would be enough for a baby quilt......the backing doesnt have to be in the same fabric line you can use a differnet fabric that would match up really nice.....i use flannel for alot of baby quilts because its really soft....so look at other fabrics and see if there is a nicer one then a bright orange....

Hello and welcome to the site. I think a jelly roll is a good size for a baby quilt. I love the lollipop line---I used it to make a baby quilt also. I used the charm squares and made a tumler quilt. I used a solid cream for the backing. It turned out really cute. I did not take a picture to show---sorry.
