Default Hey Loonwatcher I feel your pain!!!

I too have been trying to fmq a quilt for my granddaughter. Things were going great on my practice pieces but when I started on the actual quilt ...Oh Crap!!! I have spent more time " UNSEWING" today than sewing. My frugal idea of using a placemat instead of a free motion slider worked ok on the practice piece but my quilt was still dragging so I asked my dear Hubby to make me a bigger extension table. He did this right away only asking "When will this room be done?" Even with the bigger table I am so jerky. I find I am better at a higher speed but manouvering the whole quilt is very difficult. I have resigned myself to continue as best I can and will chalk this quilt up to my learning experience. Perhaps I was being too ambitious for my skill level! ..Val

Oh I hear ya. I thought I would be ok since I'd done a table runner and other small things before with adequate results. But today was just not my day.

I have days where everything I do in my sewing room is great---and then there are days that I just want to close the door, lock it and walk away and never look back.
I am such a material girl!!!!! Nena

I did that this afternoon - doing machine embroidery and must have had to rethread about 50 times. BLAH!!!
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I'm sitting here chuckling at this but not at you. I have a twin size (almost double size) quilt I started to FMQ on Saturday. Well the tension was all wrong and I had to rip it all out. Tried again on Sunday and tension was out and thread kept breaking, eyelashes on the back etc. etc. Finally I just folded it up and put it aside. It was just not my day to FMQ so it will sit there for a few days and then I will try it again. I have done FMQ on two other quilts and assorted runners, place mats and hot pads so I am comfortable with it. But I honestly believe the sewing fairy has bad days and does take it out on us quilters from time to time.
Don't give up just keep at it. If you start to get frustrated just put it down and go back to it in a day or two. You'll get it eventually and I know I will too.
