    Question dresden plate

I have 6 12 inch dresden place designs. They are ones my mom gave me so they are out of old fabric. I know 6 are not enough to do a quilt. Other then buy older looking fabic , would it look ok if I put a different block design with it? i also go some sue bonquet sue pieces cut out from her. Would thoes 2 blocks look ok together?

Hi, Carol. Welcome to the Missouri Star Quilt Company forum from NW Missouri.

I would lay your blocks out and see if you like the colors in the Dresdens with the colors in your Sue Bonnet blocks. How many of those do you have? I don't see anything wrong with making a mix and match if YOU are pleased with the lay out. Another way you could use your Dresden's would be to pick up on some of the basic colors and make a simple block to intersperse with them and just make a lap quilt.

We look forward to getting to know you better. Come on in and sit awhile and show us what you have!!
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I think the Dresden and the Sun Bonnet block would be cute together, if you like how the colors look together. You could add sashing around all the blocks and that would make your quilt top larger. By the way, welcome to the forum.....Barb

If they don't look right to you with the SBSues you could make table runners or quilted pillow tops with them.

First of all---a big hello and welcome are sent your way!! Now that that is done and out of the way-----I think that if you mix and match it would look great. I know that there is material available from that era--check it out. I have a friend who was in a similar situation and she made co-ordinating blocks of a different design to go with it and it turned out grand. good luck with it.
I am such a material girl!!!!! Nena
