    Default Quilt or tie this?

Hi, I'm really not pleased with this quilt (terribly small and just nothing like I imagined) but I feel compelled to finish it having spent all that $ on fabric. I usually hand quilt but I kind of hate to devote that kind of time (I don't have the equipment or expertise for machine quilting). I could tie it but it doesn't strike me as country/folksy enough for that.
    Thoughts?

    Thanks so much!

What size is it? Smaller quilts can be tackled with a walking foot on a domestic sewing machine. I myself like it -- but if you are not loving it, and don't want to quilt it, another option is to give it to one of the charitable groups as an unfinished top. Maybe auntiemern would like to take it for the PICU group?

Heather, Welcome to the Missouri Star Forum. I love your quilt. Give us an idea of how large it is. I think it would be fairly easy to do some echo stitching or stitch in the ditch on a domestic sewing machine. Or do some diagonal stitching about 2-3 inches apart.

For what it's worth I love it! What about an other boarder to make it larger? I concur with the Sandy's suggestions. I saw a quilt quilted with straight lines, horizontal and vertical that meet at a right angle, starting small in the right lower corner and going larger and larger to the top. If that makes any sense. I had never seen this before and I must h ave been taken with it cause it sticks out in my mind.

I like it! Like Claire said use a walking foot and do some simple soft waves across. This would make a cool artsy wall hanging.

It's 54" by 66". I've been afraid to try machine quilting, but if I must risk ruining one, I guess this one would be it.

At that size, you should be able to handle it on a domestic machine, even with little experience! Try it out on something small -- practice sandwich, placemat, potholder first -- to get the tension right.

Big stitch quilting goes pretty fast, much faster than hand quilting, but still done by hand. It would look great with gray thread. I like it! But I know the feeling that you just want to move on when a quilt doesn't live up to your expectations.

Interesting! I'd never heard of that but it may be a good solution.
