I just learned a lesson the hard way this week... I am making a quilt with triangles - lots and lots of triangles. I did not starch before I cut them all out - no biggie and no problem.
I wanted to see if starching them made a difference when sewing, so I starched a few sets of the triangles (16 triangles for each BIG triangle). Well, some of the fabric has a slightly different stretch factor than the others (all from the same Northcott line). So, some of my triangles shrunk when I starched them, and some did not. Well, this could cause problems when piecing the top together! Luckily, I had some extras to work with and I can save the 'shrunk' ones for a pillow...
The lesson I learned is that if I'm going to starch, than do it to the strips before I cut the triangles...
