Has anyone made a log cabin using 2 1/2" jelly roll. I really don't want to cut it into 1 1/2" just figure it will be bigger, but will it look weird?

I've not made one, but I think it would be fine - just start by figuring out what size you want the center block to be and go from there. If you're not sure if you would like the finished look/proportions maybe make a test block from scraps?
Slainte!

I believe the Curved Log Cabin is 2.5" strips....along with 1.5".

I have made all my log cabins with 2.5 strips. Watch Eleanor Burns "Quilt In A Day" log cabin videos.
You can start with any size. I'm more into wonky that traditional. I haven't made one yet, but it would be wonky.

I finally got all my fabric (except for fleece, tulle etc) downstairs, so I'm ready to play!

My log cabin blocks all look best at finished 12 inches or larger.. (that's just my opinion) At that size, the quilt gets done faster and looks bigger. But I want to do the Curved Log cabin, too. I have the fabric, just not the time.
Has anyone made a half log cabin? I am thinking of doing one of those with jelly roll strips. Some instructions I found call for a 4.5" center square. I really like the looks of them set on point.
Yes, I've made a log cabin quilt using a jelly roll. It's about 45" square. It turned out quite nice and I get compliments on it.
