I made a curved log cabin using a jelly roll. The solid side I used yardage because that was 1.5 inch strips.log cabin-curvedlogcabin.jpg

I have not yet made one w/ jelly roll strips. However, have seen one -- I would just suggest your finished block be bigger than what it might be if using smaller strips. Like maybe at least a 12 - 16" block.

Very cool. I just purchased this pattern and jelly rolls/fabric to make a quilt for my grandson. I'm going to use Varsity by Sweetwater for Moda. He's 12 and I think he will really like it (I hope). They have a wonderful red plaid that I'm going to use for backing and binding.

I did one with 2-1/2" strips. I don't remember the qty of strips I used...worked from a combination of my stash and assorted jelly roll strips I had on hand. I love it, but you do need to consider what layout you want vs. the size of the blocks. I wanted a barn raising pattern and had to use an even number of rows/columns to get the look I wanted. My quilt is huge - 96" square or so.
