Washing Instructions for Quilt Fair items
:icon_hi:
I've been working all year to have a lot of product for two fairs between now and Christmas. One is in a week and half away. That's tons of last minute touches to do. Each item will have a business card with it and the items particulars will be hand printed on the back (size, pattern, fabric, price etc). I'd like to print out 4 or 6 washing instructions per standard size piece of paper to include. I want to keep it simple and short.
What do you all suggest I include in the instructions?

This is the post card that I include with my quilts. I use a gold stretchy cord and pin it to the quilt.

That looks good Rivermom. I'm wondering if I should be adding to add a color catcher to the wash?

I prewash my quilts with color catchers before I gift them and figure one go around is good enough (unless it's red).
If the quilt isn't prewashed, maybe add a last line suggesting the use of color catchers. "Use of "Shout Color Catchers" is recommended for the first wash"
The most important thing is to keep it simple and keep it short.

RiverMom, I can't imagine improving your card, or the way you attach them to quilt gifts! I hope you don't mind if I use your idea

Please feel free to use the card/idea. I decided to put these on my quilts when I got a call from a daughter of a friend. She had had spilled something on her mom's quilt and was soooo upset and didn't know what to do. I had told the mother the washing instructions but she had forgotten. I calmed everyone down and decided that maybe a "care card" was needed in the future.
Re: Washing Instructions for Quilt Fair items
I had professional looking labels ordered from ikaprint.com. They have the name on one side and washing instructions the other side.

Thank you all. Very good ideas.
I've been washing them with a Shout catcher and it has done very well. My main concern is two of the quilts. One, the hibiscus has lots of the reds plus tie dyed on the back. I think that might need them for maybe 3 washings. Also one of the baby quilts has a bright pink narrow cordoroy border on it that does bleed quite a bit so I think that will need a color catcher for a while. I think the others should be ok but it doesn't hurt to add it to the instructions just in case. I'm going to get something printed out today.
Preeti, thank you for the link I'll check it out. I did have some labels done up but didn't think about two sided. I didn't have many made up, maybe 50, to test the company out and now I'm out of them. The price was quite good but the labels are quite small so I want to see what else is out there :-)
